This 1956 Porsche 356A was distributed in the US through Hoffman Motor Company of New York City and is one of approximately 156 Reutter-bodied coupes that received “European” badging from the factory. The car reportedly spent over 30 years in storage in Arizona and underwent a refurbishment approximately a decade ago that included a repaint in the factory shade of Aquamarine Blue Metallic, a refresh of the gray interior, and the installation of a 1,883cc flat-four equipped with a Competition Engineering machined case, LN Engineering “Nickies” cylinders and forged pistons, and dual Weber 44mm IDF carburetors. Shifting is through a Porsche 741 four-speed manual transaxle, and additional equipment consists of a 12-volt electrical system, a Blaupunkt push-button AM/FM radio, and 15” Tecnomagnesio wheels. Acquired by the current owner on BaT in August 2021, this 356A won First in Class in the A-Coupe category at the 2013 356 Registry West Coast Holiday in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and is being offered on dealer consignment with refurbishment records, a copy of the Kardex, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean Arizona title.
