Description

This Porsche 935 is an independently manufactured tube-chassis race car that was reportedly built for driver Luis Méndez for use in IMSA GTU events. The car reportedly competed in the 1988 and 1989 12 Hours of Sebring and was later sold to co-driver Kikos Fonseca, who campaigned it in Central and South America. It eventually made its way back to the US where it was acquired by David Hall, with the help of ex-IMSA 935 crew chief Walter Gerber of Gerber Motorsport. It was raced by Dennis Aase before being placed into storage. Racing driver Jim Torres then acquired the car in Portland Oregon, then it subsequently underwent a cosmetic and mechanical overhaul that included refinishing the existing bodywork in red, applying Latino Racing/Coca-Cola livery how it was raced by Dennis Aase and how torres bought it. It then went through the process of repairing the tube chassis, installing a turbocharged 935 3.2-liter twin-plug flat-six, and rebuilding the four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes 16″ center-lock BBS wheels, coilover suspension, a Sparco racing seat, a custom 20-gallon fuel cell, and an air jack system. The car has participated in historic events such as the Rennsport Reunion at Daytona International Speedway and the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion and was issued an FIA Historic Technical Passport in 2012.
